Re-visit our first year on the air!

It was 25 years ago this week that the first Acoustic Café program aired on 5 affiliates. This week, on our 120+ affiliates we revisit in-studio guests from our first year, 1995, including words and music from John Prine, Nick Lowe, Jewel, Joan Baez, late greats Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Michael Hedges, plus newcomers (at the time) Martin Sexton, Dar Williams, Keb’ Mo’, Todd Snider and more. Our first year was so much fun, we followed it up with 24 more!

Segment 1 — John Wesley Harding and Rob Wasserman from Show #1, Joan Armatrading, Ani Difranco and a classic from John Prine.

Segment 2 — Nick Lowe with an anthem, the late Guy Clark with his son Travis, Canadian Jann Arden with her U.S, debut and Dar Williams from her first national release.

Segment 3 — A couple hits from a couple of 1995 hitmakers… Blues Traveler and Jewel.

Segment 4 — Son Volt in the fall of ‘95, the legend Joan Baez, then newcomer Todd Snider and the late Townes Van Zandt.

Segment 5 — Graham Parker with a late-70s pub rock classic, the late Michael Hedges and (now retired) Catie Curtis making her national debut.

Segment 6 — Keb’ Mo’ previews his 2nd album, Loudon Wainright III with a signature song, Martin Sexton pre-CD and a beautiful cover from Victoria Williams.
